It's been a while since I've posted the index cards. I am wearing a cast on my hand and it's hard to make anything, but I had lots of time to think, dream and picture what I want to do - I just have to wait 4-6 weeks to actually to it! I am limited to using one hand and 2 fingers on the other.
I've had lots of time looking on the internet and found some very creative people and projects! so much talent and beauty out there. I've been working on the icad regularly, posting the pics - not so much. it feels good to be creative every day.
The idea for this card was lifted from here. Check out the blog - very talented and another local girl. I used a rough medium, TCW stencil and colored it with watercolors. used an old pattern for the background and more of the rough medium very simple index card - paint mixed with heavy texture gel and another crafters workshop stencil, tree mask, spray paint and a colored wooden bird. I love distress inks when used with perfect pearls mist. Stamped with versa mark and white embossing powder I like the "do not judge the spots" index card, I might do a canvas of that one. I used course texture medium mixed with black paint and colored between the spot with a mixture of dylusions spray and sunflower perfect pearls spray. Next time, I'll use a more brown color.
I love words. Words are powerful. Words are life changing. Be Brave Always. Live the life you've imagined.
This card was made by using book pages and paints as a back ground. The circles and words are among my favorite stamps by Tim Holtz. I painted the little letters and the brown letters are made out of felt. I used crackle paint with some stencils. I can never get it to crackle - gotta keep working on that. Index card #3 was made on January 1st. I used a stencil, dylusions spray, distress ink - love the salty ocean blue. I had an idea for index card #4, but it didn't work. It got worse as I went along and I don't like it all. The only thing that I like about it is that it is my favorite childhood book, but it is what it is and I accept it even if I don't like it...lol
I made this one on December 31, just getting time to post it now. It's a she art girl, excited about 2013. I bought Christy Tomlinson's she art girl online course for 1/2 price on black friday - well worth it! so much info and inspiration. I only have week one done and have learned so much. Thanks Christy!!! Love the wooden birds from studio calico.
So, here is index card #1! I used a crumpled up book page, mod podge and brayer to make it stick to the index card. I love the texture it gives. I had no idea what I was going to do, I sat in my craft room, looking at all the goodies until I decided what I wanted to use. Since it was Christmas, I decided on the color red. Here are some of the products that I used. I haven't been using the stazon ink in ages, but lately I use it on just about every project.
I had a crafters workshop stencil that I wanted to try, so my card took shape. |
